A town with real charisma and continental flavour, Westport, on the shores of Clew Bay and watched over by Croagh Patrick is one of Ireland’s most popular and cosmopolitan holiday destinations. With the variety of adventurous, relaxing and family activities, Westport has something for everyone... The Irish Times wants you to nominate your favourite. It can be a town or city, village or remote beauty spot. Its special quality could be the beautiful natural setting, the activities and cultural life, the second-to-none tourist infrastructure or the unbeatable welcome that your favourite place offers. Write your pitch under the Nominate your Best Place to Holiday link explaining why it’s a great place to holiday and why others should visit it too. Residents and visitors, alike, are welcome to enter. Pitch, argue, convince and gush, then answer as many of the factual questions as you can. The judges will assess all nominations, and the winner will be announced in early summer.

Westport Country Markets Ltd.

Westport Country Markets opened in October 1987 and over the years it has expanded and is now a thriving business with a wide range of local produce and crafts available at the weekly market every Thursday in St Anne's Boxing Club on James St.

Produce on offer include organic vegetables, potatoes and herbs, fresh fish, local cheese, flowers, freshly baked goods and jams while there is also a selection of cards, photography handmade soaps & textiles, knitwear, birchwood puzzles and other traditional or handmade crafts on sale.

All goods supplied by members are produced locally and use native and local materials where possible.

The Westport Country Market takes place all year round on every Thursday morning from 8.30am to 1.00pm in St Anne's Boxing Club in James Street Car Park.
